KPD Investigating Deadly Stabbing at E. Oldham Home

UPDATE (June 18, 2024, 9:15 a.m.): Victim and Suspect Identified from Deadly E. Oldham Avenue Stabbing

The victim and suspect from the deadly stabbing that happened on Monday morning at 427 E. Oldham Avenue have been identified.

The victim was identified as Michelle Dresch, 44 of Knoxville.

Through continued investigation, the suspect was identified as 50-year-old Virgil Belin, of Knoxville. Homicide Unit detectives have obtained a warrant charging Belin with first-degree murder.

It is believed the Belin stabbed the victim multiple times following a domestic dispute. Belin then ran away from the scene prior to the arrival of officers.

Belin is not in custody and efforts remain ongoing to locate him at this time.

Anyone with information concerning Belin’s whereabouts is asked to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers at 865-215-7165. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward.

The Knoxville Police Department is pursuing strong leads in its investigation into a deadly stabbing that happened on Monday morning in North Knoxville.

At around 8:40 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, KPD officers responded to a home in the 400 block of E. Oldham Avenue to investigate a stabbing. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a woman who had been stabbed at least one time. The victim was transported to the UT Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Homicide Unit detectives have developed strong leads. At this time, a suspect has not been arrested or charged.

The investigation is ongoing and remains in the early stages at this time.
